Why Screen?

There are a number of medical statisics that show a variety of conditions can go undetected until serious complications arise.
This costs employers time and money and is obviously not in the best interest of their employees.
This is a cost effective positive approach to employee wellbeing, which can pay considerable dividends to company productivity and employee morale.
WiseCheck Screening is looking for early detection of abnormalities and our results show that employees do take notice of their health issues when identified and in many cases improvements have been measured during following screens.
A selection of these statisics are listed below:
Cardiovascular & Heart Disease:
According to the British Heart Foundation, production losses in 2003 associated with Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) cost the UK over £6,200 million, with around 60% of this cost (£3,677 million) due to death and 40% (£2,556 million) due to illness in those of working age. The cost of informal care for people with CVD in the UK was over £4,800 million in 2003.
Overall, Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is estimated to cost the UK economy over £7.9 billion a year. This represents an overall cost per capita of £133. Of the total cost of CHD to the UK, around 45% is due to direct health care costs, 40% to productivity losses, and 16% to the informal care of people with CHD.
High Cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, excessive weight and diabetes have all been shown to be contributory factors in CVD & CHD.
Diabetes:
Diabetes UK writes that recent studies show a gap of several years between the onset of diabetes and its diagnosis. Up to 50% of people diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, previously called Late Onset Diabetes, already suffer with one or more complications, such as cardiovascular disease or kidney damage. They estimate that there are three quarters of a million people in the UK who are unaware that they have diabetes.
Our health screening is aimed at reducing the time between onset and diagnosis, to enable people to get advice and care at an earlier stage, therefore reducing the risk of complications.
Lung Disease:
A report for the British Thoracic Society (BTS) reveals that lung diseases, which include conditions ranging from asthma to lung cancer, are now one of the biggest killers in the UK, accounting for one in four deaths.
It is also the most common reason patients give for visiting their GP and is estimated to cost the NHS £2.5bn each year - more than any other disease.
Kidney Disease:
It is estimated that chronic renal disease affects approximately 10% of the population, and is often asymptomatic until renal function is severely reduced.
Presence of protein or blood in the urine can be an indication of kidney or urinary tract problems.
