BMI Calculator

What is BMI?

BMI stands for body mass index which is a formula which relates Body Weight to Height. This formula can be used as a general guide to determine whether you are a healthy weight. It should be noted that since the measurement does not take account of the relationship between muscle and body fat it should only be used as a guide.

It isn't suitable for children, young people or older people.

What Your BMI Calculation Means:

Under 18.5
Underweight
18.5 - 25 Healthy Weight
25 - 30 Overweight
30 - 40 Obese
Over 40 Severely obese

From the chart above, we see that healthy BMI falls in the range between 18.5 and 24.9.

People who are in the overweight (25 - 29.9) or obese (greater than 30) scales are considered to have too much body fat. People who are in the underweight (less than 18.5) scale, on the other hand, are considered to have too little body fat.

Keep in mind that BMI index test is only one measure of your health. Many other factors contribute to your health. As such, having a healthy BMI does not mean that your body is in perfect health.
